Original Pontiac Chieftain: 1,900 Miles

The term “automotive detailing” covers a broad spectrum of services, and tends to mean very different things to different people. At CH.Detailing, the foundation has always been restorative type paint correction designed to preserve, enhance, and (when possible) perfect your vehicle’s surfaces. Many shops may use these terms to attract customers, but they do so without the proper skills, knowledge, or (most importantly) experience. This not only causes confusion in the market, but also leads to repair work that I then have to perform in order to fix their mistakes. True paint correction works to restore the finish of your vehicle, and when properly maintained, can last for years to come. It is because of an unrelenting high standard that CH.Detailing is trusted to care for some of the rarest and most expensive vehicles in the world.

For example, this 1958 Pontiac Chieftain was brought to me in the original factory “Persian Black” lacquer with only 1,900 miles on the clock. After decades of wear and neglect the surface was dulled with swirls and oxidation. Upon a closer inspection, many of the panel edges had been worn bare, and the paint thickness measured quite thin on every panel. With paint like this, it can be all too easy to damage the finish such that a repaint would be the only option for repair. With such a low mileage classic as this, repainting can decrease the value by thousands of dollars. Fortunately, by carefully inspecting, measuring, and copious amounts of tediously slow polishing, the surface was able to see a tremendous improvement without compromising the originality of the vehicle.
